Madden 23 Game Modes & New Features

All the spotlight for this season has been trained on FieldSENSE. This updated gameplay engine is quite a big deal for Madden 23. But, the highlight isn't without its own pitfalls because players who aren't using PS5 or Xbox Series X|S will not be able to make use of this huge advancement.

FieldSENSE completely revamps the gameplay system with new animations and branching system which affect all aspects in Madden 23. We had the opportunity to put FieldSENSE on the field during the closed Madden 23 beta, and our first impressions were all positively about how these modifications will help. More reveals going in-depth for every game mode will be revealed ahead of launch, but here's what we've learned concerning each prior to the transition to Madden 23.

Franchise Mode

While the game's gameplay was impressive, the beta brought less positive news regarding Franchise Mode, with improvements in the game not up with what many were hoping to find. Franchise has a new contract system, which includes player motivations but the lack of Create A Team and other key features remain an issue.

The Face of the Franchise: The League (Career Mode)

If there's a shining star in Madden 23. it's likely to be Face of the Franchise: The League, what some players are likely to call Career Mode. The game has removed the collegiate elements from recent seasons and introduced a number of new features such as weekly side events. There are more details on how Face of the Franchise The League was a huge hit during the closed beta.

The Franchise's Face: The Yard

While we didn't test it in the testing, it was clear that they've added The Yard into Face of the Franchise even appearing on the main menu in Madden 23. Once that integration is in place players will be able to advance your avatar through Career Mode with rewards you can use to buy gear and head to The Yard for the same challenges that we played in the backyard last year.

Superstar KO

We've learned very little about Superstar KO from Madden 23. however, we're not anticipating it'll differ from what this was the case in Madden 22. The players will still be able to form teams with other players in the online cooperative elimination mode, with Superstar X-Factor abilities always turned on. Fans can expect unique stadiums and dynamic new rules in the coming year.

Madden Ultimate Team (MUT 23)

Then, but not least and most importantly, we'll have the controversy-ridden Madden Ultimate Team game mode re-launching again. MUT 23 seemed slightly more refined from our brief look during the test, but it seems to be pretty close to what players should expect when they play Ultimate Team. A lot of content is released in the first few days of the launch season, and players seeking the greatest advantage during launch might want to get a pre-order to Mut 23 coins get one of the top editions that comes with Madden 23.
